How to make an egg tree
The design for this whimsical egg tree derives from eastern European folk art. The basket at the bottom is traditionally used for bread. The tree makes a spectacular centrepiece at Easter when filled with dyed or painted eggs. At Christmas, turn it into a decorative Christmas tree by putting night lights in the egg holders and filling the basket with presents or sweets (candies). Tinned copper wire has been used here as it is ideal for kitchenware. It is as malleable as copper wire and has the added advantage that it does not tarnish. The egg tree can, of course, be made from cheaper and more readily available wire. For a different finish it could be wrapped in natural-coloured string.

Decoupage technique
Découpage is the craft of decorating an object with paper cutouts glued in place. If you take the time to apply many coats of varnish over the paper cutouts, they will appear to sink into the surface and will look as though they are part of the object and not merely stuck on.
Tetsuya Uenobe shoes
Tetsuya Uenobe shoes are different. Tetsuya is a Japanese designer who creates shoes as ‘wearable art’. He graduated BTEC Professional Development Certificate in Design (Footwear/ Accessories) at Cordwainers at London College of Fashion in June/ 2001. Before then, he was employed as a Merchandiser for men’s footwear and leather accessories of a mail order company in Japan.
Christine Alvarado and Du Buh Du Design
Christine Alvarado is an artist and doll maker originally from the Monterey Peninsula and she currently resides in Bend, Oregon with her husband and son. Her background is in fine art, sculpture, printmaking, etc.. She earned an AA in Graphic Design at Monterey Peninsula College and her BA in Art at San Jose State University’s School of Art & Design.
