Jane Foster’s Happy World
Jane Foster is an illustrator living in UK. Her two main passions are screen printing and collecting vintage fabrics from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Her screen prints start off as ink drawings which are then added to screens for printing. She enjoys the process of drawing free hand and love combining screen printing with vintage fabrics.
Jane lives in Totnes, Devon with her partner and daughter, in a contemporary modern eco home where she has a purpose built studio room where she does her design work, screen print and sew.
She has been screen printing for many years now and she is strongly influenced by Scandinavian design. Jane particularly likes design from the 50’s and 60’s and has a large collection of fabrics and ceramics from these periods. Her favourites are early Marimekko fabric designs and the work by Lucienne Day.She also loves the artwork by Dick Bruna and Alain Gree.
Jane is collecting furniture from the 50s and 60s, in particular patterned formica pieces and birch ply chairs, which compliment her contemporary home.
She loves bold, simply, happy designs, which appeal to children and adults alike.
She is making the cards and posters published by The Art Group and also regularly design for Clothkits. She sells her work through her own various websites and also to Independent shops all over the world.
