Calon Yarns craft workshops in Cardiff, UK
Calon Yarns is certainly more than a wool shop. Established in 2011 by brother and sister team Lynne and Jon Seymour, this centre of crafty goodness based in Cardiff prides itself on not only stocking wonderful yarns, notions and patterns but also on running high quality, fun and inspirational workshops in all sorts of techniques from knitting and crochet sessions to dressmaking, felt making, quilting, spinning, embroidery… the list goes on!
Children are not left out either as they run holiday and term time craft clubs for 7 – 11 year olds. They have a wonderful three week course coming up in July this year to make beautiful Sew Simple Summer Dresses for little girls, but big girls do not get jealous as there is an adult dressmaking course too.this workshop is perfect for those who can sew simple seams, but want to expand their skills.
Lynne Seymour says, “We run weekend one-day workshops for adults and also six-week courses, and daytime and evening sessions are available. The timetable changes every six weeks, but at the moment we have knitting, sewing, crochet, spinning, bead embroidery, patchwork and quilting on offer. An after-school club also runs in six-week blocks and we explore things like making felt flowers and pictures, making bags out of recycled clothes, papier mache structures and also the more traditional skills of knitting, sewing and crochet”.
