Jenne Giles is a San Francisco-based artist whose work ranges from traditional fine arts and crafts to innovative performance and installation art. Jenne graduated from the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts, Houston, TX, in 1993. In 1997 she received her degree in Art & Art History from Rice University in Houston, TX.

While the cotton is the traditional fibre for tie-dyeing in Africa and India, you can use almost any fibre for this process providing that it is receptive for the dye and not too bulky to withstand tying. For best results, select a smooth, fine cloth such as cotton lawn. In general, man-made fibres are not as suitable as natural ones because they don’t absorb the dyes as readily.

Like many craft forms, though roots of marbling techniques was not precisely known, although we have evidence that the Japanese were marbling paper some 700 years ago. According to Japanese legend, marbling was a divine gift, bestowed upon an individual to reward scheme for his devotion at the Katsuga Shrine.
Esther Coombs describes herself as an artist “who believes that life is a story and that narrative is best told with drawings.” A gifted illustrator, she has found a perfect canvas for her storytelling; old china and fabric. Through her upcycling of vintage ceramics and textiles she creates unique pieces, drawing by hand onto the surface of each item. The juxtaposition of her modern, somewhat minimalist line drawings with the floral and elaborate designs of the vintage china and fabric creates an unusual, somehow provocative look.
Lynn Setterington is an internationally recognised artist working in the textiles arena, most notably quilts and hand stitched cloths. Over the last decade she has worked on a number of large public engagement projects and collaborations with diverse groups.
