Lucy and Jane, who teamed up in 2006 to pool their retail, photographic and public relations skills and create a beautiful collection of chic home buys. They certainly know what they’re doing – the brand itself and online shop have quickly become a favourite of glossy magazines, stylists and design-savvy shoppers all over the world.
Rockett St George stocks plenty of famous designs from big industry names alongside unusual buys from smaller, up-and-coming designers to create a modern look with a twist. So, while the Vitra collection is here – full of design classics from the likes of Charles and Ray Eames, Jasper Morrison and Jean Prouve – you’ll also find quirky ceramic tiles, funky screen-prints and neon lighting from the London-based printmaker Bianca Hall. This mix of new design and timeless classics makes the Rockett St George cocktail completely irresistible.
New arrivals include the unusual Beethoven Bust candle. Far too gorgeous to actually light, it has been labelled a must-have mantelpiece accessory for any self-respecting “interiorista”, as Jane and Lucy put it (my new favourite word). It looks fabulous against dark grey walls, and for some unfathomable reason, I want one.
Check out the peculiar yet incredibly cool lighting from Atelier Abigail Ahern: lamp bases shaped like bulldogs, greyhounds, poodles and pelicans. They are very “now” and, as the Rockett ladies admit, “ever so slightly barking”.
The new Exclusives range is well worth a look- the place to find something unique for your home. I love the up-cycled Initial cushions from the screen-printing duo Wasp. Made using vintage British military canvas, each one is hand-printed then trimmed with satchel straps, toggles and buttons, and no two are the same.
The secret to Rockett St George’s success is that it’s always one step ahead of the game. Its range of on-trend accessories is unrivalled: horse-head lights, 1980s cassette prints, ceramic gnomes – every time you log on, there’s something new and wonderful to discover.
